Puerto Vallarta: Day 1

The plane arrived a half hour early (they also left a half hour early, but that didn't stop people from applauding the early arrival). I had bought a VivaAerobus bus ticket.... to where I didn't know, but I got on the super first class bus with leg rests (not foot rests, leg rests). I was the only person on the bus! I had no idea where we were going, but I figured it would be somewhere within the city itself. I was so, so wrong. Of course all of the windows had curtains so I couldn't see where we were going or tell that we had arrived (a few minutes later). The driver nodded to me and I got off the bus, but not before asking him where we were (I gave him a map so he could point). Turns out, he didn't know where we were. Not helpful.

I exited the station hoping to see road sigs so that I could orientate myself on the map. No good. I asked the taxi driver coordinator. He consulted with another man and they finally agreed that we were so far north we weren't on the map. I gave up at that point and decided to take a taxi. One hundred pesos and about 30 minutes later, I was in front of the hostel. By the way, the taxi passed by the airport on the way to the hostel. Apparently, I had ended up NORTH of the airport!

This evening, I took a walk and finally made it to the beach. Although that had been the original goal, it took me forever because I took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up on a dirt road with a little dog following me. On the down side, my feet already hurt. On the bright side, I saw the real Mexico, the Mexico where a kid had a birthday party with balloons and a pinata, and the Mexico where I saw a very pregnant woman arriving at her baby shower.
I am completely exhausted and completely drained. I've had a really hard month and the horrible events of the past couple of days haven't helped anything. I may just shower and go to bed.

Goodnight
