As time is running short, we only had 3 days in Slovenia, 2 of which we spent in Bled on the lake and 1 in Ljubljana (the capitol; pronounce the js like ys and you’ve got it).
Bled was definitely picturesque. The whole town was the scenery, the castle and church overlooking the lake, a second church perched on a tiny island (the sole structure on the island). The only way to reach the church is by boat, one of those sitting on the shore next to an enterprising young man attempting to sell artwork and rent out a small fleet of 3 boats simultaneously.
One day, we walked all the way around the lake (it looks smaller than it really is) and climbed up to the castle. The following day we walked to Vintgar Gorge, about 4 and a half kilometers away from Bled. While we enjoyed our time and the view, I was ready to move on to other places. I can see myself returning to Slovenia though. The grass and trees are a shade of green that doesn’t exist in Texas.
Ok, it’s photo time. I’m sure there is a lot more I can say about Slovenia, but this time, I’m going to use pictures instead of words.
