Today we fly to the jungle. I admit I'm terribly excited to witness birds at the clay lick. We are already at the Cusco airport and will board in about 30 minutes. We are sitting at the gate as I write.
Yesterday, once we arrived in Cusco and found our hostel, Pantastico (a pun on pan = bread and fantastico) we ventured back out towards the main square, Plaza de Armas.
We took a few photos, but our first mission was to find food. We settled on a well-reviewed eco-conscious restaurant called Green's right off the Plaza de Armas. I had the quinoa ravioli with white sauce - quinoa seems to be a staple food around here.
Unfortunately, it started to pour as we were dining. No more sightseeing for us. We walked back to the hostel through the rain, only stopping for cover and a bit of shopping at some indoor souvenir stalls.
Fortunately, the hostel provided hot showers and wifi. I was able to get some homework done and publish four blog posts.
Preparing a blog post takes more work than it appears to. Not only do I have to manage to find the time to write (usually on a bus or train), but I also have to take appropriate pictures and find internet access to publish posts. Since I don't often have computer access, I usually write my blog posts on paper first. I am currently sitting on the airplane waiting for takeoff and writing a a half-full 3x4 inch notebook. Once I have access to my iPad, I will type what I've written. Then, I ahve to find internet access. when I do, I will copy and paste the blog text into my blogger app window, add pictures form my phone's photo stream (as I do not have access to my camera's photos while on this trip), and finally, I will publish my post. And voila! One blog post complete.
